Happy birthday, Ann! Easter is going to be pretty quiet this year, as I'm on a deadline and only one of my kids is home (and working Easter Sunday). We'll be making arrosticini (Abruzzese lamb skewers), probably asparagus, and for sure my mom's pizza rustica (cheese and cured meat-filled torte). Thinking of chocolate amaretti for dessert to keep it simple. Joyeuses Pâques!

Tanti Auguri! Enjoy that chocolate cake (that is a favorite recipe of mine) For Easter I have ordered a carciofi lasagna & a wedge of Casatiello (a rich bread stuffed with eggs, pork, cheese & lots of black pepper) there will probably be asparagus, & I am going to make a crostata with some Calabrian bergamot jam a State Department pal just gave me. Buona Pasqua 🐣

Ann, Thank you for all of your sharing...brings pleasures of various types...eg, remembering times in Brooklyn (where I first lived after being born in the French Hospital in Manhattan), shucking hand hewn oysters with my cousin in South Wellfleet, lemon anything..., and realizing that no matter how long the trip takes it's the loved ones who make it all worthwhile. Happy HB!

I have a fabulous recipe for a lemon mousse cake that starts with making lemon curd, then the next day you make the mousse. Serve with candied lemon slices on top and raspberries. To die for.

I made two desserts for Easter, yeah! David's Caramel Orange Upside Down C ake and Dorie's Almond Cake with strawberries and whipped cream and vanilla bean ice cream. The fluffy pink bunny didn't bring me any colored eggs or chocolate, so I could enjoy both desserts!

Ann, I just hiked in Pinnacle Ntl park and it was so beautiful. Just thought you would like to try since you might be close to SLO. Deborah

Sorry I missed your birthday; hope it was grand! Every Saturday night I cook for my 101-year-old next door neighbor (102 next month.) Tonight, the appetizer is her favorite, small bird's nests made with angel hair pasta & pesto, poached bay scallops dyed blue, and a mango-lime cheese sauce. Bon Appetit!
